The Minister of Environment and Climate Control announced a new government grant to encourage the homeowners of Installation of Heat Pumps. The grant is available from April 2018 and is worth up to €3,500 towards the cost of installing an Air to Water Heat Pump.
You can apply if your home was built before 2011. This is defined as the date your electricity meter was installed. You as an applicant must be the owner of the dwelling which has to have an existing heating system and must be occupied for the last year.
Before you can apply for the grant, you will have to get your house checked by the SEAI Technical Advisor, your dwelling will be then checked for the suitability for the Heat pump Grant. The Technical Advisor will guide you what steps to take to make your house Heat Pump ready and advise you on reducing heat loss
One of the best ways how to improve the heat loss indicator is by insulating your home. There are many ways how the heat can get out of your house - through the roof, walls, windows, doors etc. Don´t waste the money that you have already spent and keep it inside of your home. There are grants available for different types of insulation like Attic Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation or External Wall Insulation. You must meet certain requirements to qualify for these grants.
You can apply for the grant online by visiting SEAI website. You will be asked for the Meter Point Reference Number and for some of your personal details.
